Superfast Broadband

By the end of March 2016, the Government’s Superfast Broadband Programme had provided coverage to nearly 4 million homes and businesses, in collaboration with local authorities and the devolved administrations. Stafford constituency is located within the Staffordshire project. The project has been allocated over £9.1 million of government funding for Phase 1 and/or 2 of the Superfast Broadband Programme.

July 2017 - UPDATE -The Bill for Phase 2A of HS2 (which cuts through Stafford constituency from Moreton through Great Haywood, Ingestre, Hopton, Martson and Yarlet) was published in July 2017.

County Hospital

July 2017 Update

I recently pressed the Health Secretary on the importance of County Hospital A&E department as a critical part of the regional emergency infrastructure.

Supporting Business

Tackling local unemployment, supporting business and social enterprise was one of my top election pledges. Since 2010 I have worked tirelessly on this issue; working closely with the local councils, the Chamber of Commerce, training providers and the business community.  We are now seeing unemployment falling, apprenticeship numbers on the rise and businesses growing in confidence.

Job Clubs

Tackling unemployment is one of my main priorities. That is why I was so determined to see the establishment of Job Clubs in my constituency. Stafford Works, of which I am a trustee, set its first one up in September 2010.
